The Cherished Legacies Legacy Project was created to give North Carolina adults facing a serious medical condition or life-limiting illness the opportunity to intentionally preserve the stories, memories, values, and messages they want future generations to know.
OUR STORY
What began with one Legacy Gift quickly became something much bigger. Seeing the impact it had on the recipient and their loved ones confirmed what I had hoped from the beginning—that everyone deserves the opportunity to preserve what matters most.
Today, the Legacy Project continues as a quarterly initiative, providing one recipient with the complimentary Cherished Legacies Legacy Gift.
Each Legacy Gift includes

- A guided Legacy Reflection Guide
- Personal setup and support from Cherished Legacies
This gift is not about preserving every photograph or video someone has ever taken.
It is about thoughtfully creating a legacy that reflects who they are, the stories they want remembered, the wisdom they want to pass down, and the messages they want their loved ones to carry forward.

ELIGIBILITY
Who can be nominated?
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Live in North Carolina.
- Be facing a serious medical condition or life-limiting illness.
- Be willing to participate in the legacy process independently or with the support of a family member, friend, or caregiver.
No medical records or detailed diagnosis are required. Nominations may be submitted by family members, friends, caregivers, healthcare professionals, social workers, faith leaders, or nonprofit organizations. Simply share why you believe this person would cherish the opportunity to preserve their legacy and what receiving this gift could mean to them and their loved ones.
